Famous people's thoughts on terrorism

Many notable people have expressed their views on terrorism. Below are a few quotes.

"Our enemies are fully aware that they can use oil as a weapon against America. And if we don't take this threat as seriously as the bombs they build or the guns they buy, we will be fighting the War on Terror with one hand tied behind our back."

-BARACK OBAMA

"I opposed the war in Iraq because I did not believe it was in our national security interest, and I still don't. What we [America] did was akin to taking a baseball bat to a beehive. Our primary security threat right now is terrorism ---and by doing what we did in Iraq, we've managed to alienate a good part of the world and most of the allies whose intelligence and other help we need to combat and defeat terrorism."

-JERRY SPRINGER

"We do not create terrorism by fighting the terrorists. We invite terrorism by ignoring them."

-GEORGE W. BUSH

September 11, 2011 in detail by Vince

I remember this tragic day, I was just sitting in my living room while my grandfather was watching the news. I was only four but I remember on "Headline News" that I saw a plane crash into a tower. I didn't know at the time but that attack was the 9/11 attacks.
My grandfather was shocked and I was wondering what happened. Since I was the only one at home, he explained it to me. I nearly cried hearing what happened. Today I still might.
September 11 was the US's worse terrorist attack ever recorded. In the morning of this fateful day, 19 hi-jackers took control of four planes. The planes selected were long flight ones as these had more fuel. The planes crashed into the twin towers, the pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania after passengers took control.
9/11 is regarded as the worse terror attack in the US. Nothing has ever come close to this attack.
It's been seven long years and no major attack due to terrorism has occurred in US soil since. The perpetrator was a terrorist group named al-Qaeda. The main person was recently deceased, Osama Bin Laden.

Terrorism's effect on economy

Even though terrorism has many effects on other things, economy is one of the biggest. Countries such as the US spend money on defense and homeland security. The US alone spends $500 billion annually on terrorist related problems. If the war on terrorism were to end tomorrow, the US would still owe over twenty years worth of debt.

Lupe Fiasco - Words I Never Said ft. Skylar Grey

Terrorism is the use of violence or threats to convince an individual or group to do something.

This is a huge issue in the world. Some people are too judgmental about certain terrorism acts that they are accusing all the other innocent people. For example, in 9/11, the act was executed due to a religious reason, and now some Americans are thinking that Muslims are “bad” people. To their surprise, only 4% of Muslims are terrorists. We should not, in any way, think that all Muslims are terrorists, or that all terrorists are Muslims.

Some Americans are also thinking that Islam is an idea of violence, or war. It is not. Islam is the complete opposite; it’s meant to be peace. In addition, the term Jihad, which people think nowadays is a holy war for Islam, it is also wrong, Jihad is the struggle on Earth for the sake of good.

I think the real problem is about the violence. We cannot stop violence using violence, only peace can. Using violence and try to “make things right” or “prevent further acts of terrorisms” is non-ideal. Violence will only bring more hatred and from that bring more violence.

I have this quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I want to share with you

The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it… Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate…. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; Only love can do that. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The post after this will be a music video, in the music video, the rapper (Lupe Fiasco)'s second verse, contain very interesting lines that I think, in my opinion, is really true.

Now you can say it ain't our fault if we never heard it
But if we know better than we probably deserve it
Jihad is not a holy war, wheres that in the worship?
Murdering is not Islam! And you are not observant
And you are not a muslim
Israel don’t take my side cause look how far you’ve pushed them
Walk with me into the ghetto, this where all the Kush went
